With summer in full swing, the entire JCCM team hopes you're taking full advantage of the summer season to recharge your batteries. In just over a month, our early-season networking events will be back, and we're already looking forward to seeing you! To help you prepare, we've put together a few tips and tricks to help you get the most out of those first meetings of the new school year. Ready to expand your network successfully?
1. Optimize your LinkedIn profile
Much more than just a virtual CV, LinkedIn is now a dynamic space for exchanging and learning, an invaluable resource of contacts, a means of establishing your credibility, and also a platform for perfecting your skills and realizing your career aspirations by finding the job of your dreams. Optimizing your profile is therefore essential to making the most of your network, both online and in person! We recommend that you consult this short guide to help you get started.
2. Define your objectives
Before attending a networking event, be clear about what you want to achieve - your reason for attending. Whether it's to expand your network, seek out business opportunities, make new contacts or simply have a good time, having clear objectives will help you stay focused.
3. Prepare your personal pitch
Prepare a brief presentation (one minute at most) of yourself to highlight who you are, what you do and your professional interests. Be concise, attractive and able to adapt your speech to the person in front of you.
4. Be open to others
As you might expect, networking events can be quite intimidating. But there's nothing more satisfying than overcoming your fears by joining in the discussions and asking questions. Be yourself! Building genuine relationships can open doors to both business and friendship, and create valuable long-term opportunities.
5. Follow up on your meetings
After the event, send a thank-you e-mail to the people you interacted with, and take the opportunity to suggest continuing the conversation over a coffee - why not!
We sincerely hope you'll find these tips useful for your next networking event.
In fact, we look forward to seeing you at our launch event on September 12! It'll be the perfect opportunity to put these tips into practice and develop fruitful relationships with the JCCM community. Have a great August... and see you soon!
