The third session of the Réseau Jeunes Entrepreneur.e.s (RJE) training program was rich in learning and exchange. Hosted by Eddy Dureuil of Ecotime, the evening saw the participation of professionals such as Étienne Beauchemin of PME MTL, Lara Émond of Iris + Arlo, Thomas Ferland Dionne of Boîte PAC, and Anissa Bensaid of ESG+, who led the workshop on simulating the Social Business Model Canvas (SBMC).
The first block of discussions focused on defining impact objectives, emphasizing the importance of choosing a cause that is close to one's heart and that can be harmoniously integrated into the business model. Speakers also encouraged collaboration with existing organizations to maximize social or environmental impact.
The second block dealt with data collection to measure impact, highlighting the importance of both qualitative and quantitative arguments. Concrete examples were shared, highlighting the effectiveness of describing a project in both words and figures to measure progress.
Finally, the third block dealt with reflection and continuous improvement, in particular how to deal with failures. Our guests emphasized the natural aspect of failure in the entrepreneurial process, and encouraged us to learn from it in order to move forward.
The session closed with a question-and-answer session, tackling a variety of topics such as mentoring projects in the ideation phase, communicating key messages to investors, and seeking financial backing for cultural projects.
The event provided young entrepreneurs with practical advice and enriching perspectives on how to develop their growing organizations, while integrating impact objectives.
Stay tuned for future RJE events and sessions!
