IMPACTFUL GENERATION. Les Affaires presents the leaders of tomorrow from the third cohort of Generation Impact, an intrapreneur training program run by the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal and Fondaction, with the support of Pôle IDEOS-HEC Montréal.
Siddhartha Borissov Beausoleil — I've set myself the challenge of initiating a dialogue within my firm about urban mobility. Both at the firm management level and at the individual level, I'd like us to take a serious look at our choices in this area, their ecological and social footprint, as well as their effect on our health.
Our offices, especially in Montreal, are ideally located downtown, allowing us to consider a multitude of sustainable mobility options: public transit, walking, cycling, carpooling, use of electric vehicles, and more. My ambition is therefore to provoke thought and invite the firm to consider bold solutions that will propel it to the forefront of sustainable mobility.
Very early on in my thought process, I realized that it was essential to draw up an initial assessment of internal habits, based on solid data. So I set about gathering data to understand my colleagues' travel habits, and the factors that influence their decisions. I also explored how the firm could positively drive these habits by adopting certain mobility initiatives.
To gather this data, I began discussing the subject with colleagues. I wanted to understand, in a non-judgmental way, how they establish their commuting routines, with a view to designing a questionnaire that would be adapted to them, but also respectful of their privacy and the personal decisions they make on a daily basis. This survey would form the core of my data collection, so I had to think of ways to optimize the participation rate in the hope of obtaining conclusive data.
