An update of the Quebec study on entrepreneurship and business transfers, presented at the Sommet du repreneuriat, points to a sharp acceleration in business transfers in 2022. At 4.8% (9,365 SMEs), this was the highest proportion since 2015, marking an 11.8% year-on-year increase. The manufacturing sector saw the most significant growth, even overtaking the hotel and catering sector, traditionally in the lead.
Professor Marc Duhamel of UQTR expresses concern about the ecosystem's ability to properly support sellers, noting a gap between intentions to sell and actual transfers. He points out that 28% of SMEs that expressed the intention to change ownership did not do so, which could indicate challenges in the transfer process.Source : Le Soleil
“At a time when climate disasters are multiplying and economic uncertainty is on the rise, scientific research is becoming a pillar of the ecological transition. It generates collective wealth and solutions”.
Climate change is having a direct impact on Quebec companies: a recent study reveals that over half of them have suffered direct climate impacts in the past year. Faced with this challenge, scientific research, particularly that conducted by INRS, plays a crucial role in developing concrete solutions and innovative technologies (inspired by nature to reduce erosion, sequester carbon, reuse CO₂, explore white hydrogen). INRS positions itself as an incubator of innovation and calls for public-private partnerships to turn environmental problems into opportunities and support the ecological transition.Source : Radio-Canada
