As part of International Women's Rights Day, the Junior Chamber of commerce of Montreal is highlighting inspiring stories in a series of 8 portraits of women (or self-identified women) who volunteer on our various committees.
Portrait 5 - Meet Kathy Ramboni, the quietly determined member of the volunteer Public Affairs Committee.
Dynamic, multilingual and with an impressive international background, Kathy is a specialist in project management, public relations and public affairs. At Finance Montréal, she excelled at managing sponsor relations and web communications for major events, helping to raise Montréal's profile as a global financial hub.
Her expertise in corporate communications was honed at NATIONAL, where she successfully supported clients from a wide variety of sectors. Her professional adventure took her as far as Asia, where she contributed to a sustainable urban development project in South Korea and taught business English in Japan.
Passionate and committed, Kathy is volunteer co-director of the JCCM's public affairs committee. A McGill graduate in East Asian Studies and Political Science, she juggles French, English and Spanish with ease, while honing her skills in Japanese and Mandarin.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for women in 2025?
Promote greater access to management positions for women from all backgrounds by setting up targeted mentoring programs, providing financial support for local women entrepreneurs and creating platforms for exchange and collaboration. Empowering women means building more inclusive and innovative leadership.
Your favorite Montreal woman-owned business?
The DDD boutique - Dedicated to sustainable design owned by Luce Mainguy. I love her approach to combining style and eco-responsible thinking in her product selection. I've had the privilege of accompanying this company in its growth, from its online beginnings to the opening of its first boutique in 2019, coordinating public relations efforts alongside Luce.
Your best “fail” that turned into an opportunity?
Not being accepted into the University of Ottawa's Masters in Public and International Affairs program after my undergraduate degree at McGill was an opportunity in disguise. It enabled me to land my first international job: teaching business English in Japan. No regrets to this day!
Your favorite place to work/think in Montreal?
The OSMO x MARUSAN café-terrace for its Japanese-inspired drinks and dishes and unique ambience.
Do you have any advice for young women in Montreal?
By 2025, no young woman in Montreal should hesitate to sit on a board of directors or volunteer as a vice-president of an organization. Women have their rightful place at the table, and our commitment is essential to ensuring equitable representation and positively influencing decision-making bodies.
